Description

Medium to large in size and round to oval in shape, zinfandel grapes grow in bulky clusters that are closely clustered together. The translucent flesh is incredibly delicious and has a few seeds, while the thick skin ranges in colour from deep red to purple-black. The strong, sweet fruity flavor of zinfandel grapes is characterized by their high sugar content, acidity, and undertones of spice, blackberry, and plum.

Uses

Although zinfandel grapes are typically associated with wine, they can also be eaten straight from the hand as a table grape. The sweet flavor of the grape pairs well with fruit and cheese platters. It can also be processed into juice or sliced and added to green salads. They can be cooked and reduced into jams and jellies as well as used as a garnish on top of delicacies including cakes, tarts, sorbets, and ice cream.

Nutrition

The high fluid content and vitamin A, C, and K content of zinfandel grapes make them an excellent source of hydration and replacement of electrolyte.

Cultivation

This grape does well in hot, dry areas like southern Italy and eastern California because it likes the heat. It needs a lot of sunlight to maintain its deep colour, but full sun will cause bad impact on it.
