Witblits Bearded Dragon

Witblits Bearded Dragon

Description:

Scientific name: Pogona sp.

Life span: 8 years

They frequently lack even very large scales and any kind of color pattern on their bodies. Because of this, they have also acquired the moniker “white-bearded dragon.” yet not as much as white. Yet, it is more akin to the lack of any variation. In the same way that white noise is referred to when static buzzes. These days, there are a lot of high-end breeders who produce witblits in colors of orange and even red that are of really high color. As witblits is a recessive gene, the dragon needs to possess both recessive alleles for this morph to be seen! (like if you had blue eyes!)

A dragon is said to be “het witted” when they have one allele of the gene, which indicates they can generate the gene but cannot see it. When a dragon gets agitated, its typical patterns and color will show.

Native Region/Habitat

A breeder in South Africa found witblits, completely patternless dragons, just before the zero mutation.

Behavior:

This lizard is among the most delicate and sociable members of the lizard family. Yet, the genetically altered species must pay due attention to their natural habitat and feeding habits.

Care As a pet/In captivity:

With a witblits bearded dragon, maintaining an appropriate humidity and heat source inside the enclosure system is the same as for the others. If you don’t know how to build enclosures or maintain the health of your bearded dragon.
