Characteristics and Genetics

The Wielkopolski horse first appeared in Central and Western Poland in 1964. The Mazurka-Poznanski horse is another name for this breed, which was created by mating Mazury and Poznan horses. A rare breed, the Poznan was bred at the studs of Racot, Posadawo, and Gogolewo. It was a cross between the Arabian Thoroughbred, Hanoverian, and Trakehner. The Mazury, on the other hand, derived from the Trakehner horses and developed in Poland as a riding horse. Arabian thoroughbreds, in addition to the Mazury and Poznan, were also incorporated, creating a stunning, elegant breed with a polished, balanced, and fluid stride.

The Wielkopolski horse comes in two varieties; the lighter one is utilized for competitive riding, and the heavier one is used for both riding and harnessing.
