Size
This species’ maximum length is 40 centimeters (16 in).
Physical Characteristics and Behavior
The head is huge, the body is lengthy, and skin covers every square inch of the body. A wedge-shaped fontanel extends from behind the nasal apertures to the rear of the eyes, and a circular fontanel rests at the base of the occipital process. At the top of the head are the eyes. The maxillary pair is especially lengthy and often extends past the tip of the caudal fin. The barbels are large and flattened. The first ray of the dorsal fin is not spinous, yet some individuals may have a base that is more rigid and even longer than the spines of other species. The adipose and caudal fins are both long and emarginate.
Habitat
The pH of the water should be between 6.5 and 7.2 since the vulture catfish needs neutral water with little mineral content. Similar to this, the Vulture Catfish flourishes in temperatures between 71.0 and 79.0 degrees Fahrenheit (22 to 26 C).
