Description
Ugli fruits are a huge citrus type with an uneven, oval to slightly flattened, oblate shape with a diameter of 10 to 15 centimetres. The peel has scars, lumps, and wrinkles all over it and is semi-thick, leathery, and harsh. The fruits have green, yellow, and orange hues that are variegated, and as they ripen, they take on deeper yellow-orange tones while occasionally retaining green specks.
Uses
These fruits are easy to peel and have luscious, soft flesh that works well both raw and cooked. The fruits can be segmented and eaten directly out of hand, or they can be cut in half and eaten like grapefruits. Ugli fruits can also be blended into smoothies, used as a fresh topping over yoghurt and oats, or diced and used to fruit bowls, citrus salads, and green salads.
Nutrition
Vitamin C, an antioxidant that strengthens the immune system, lowers inflammation, and increases collagen formation in the skin, is abundant in this fruit. The fruits also include modest levels of calcium, potassium, and folate and are rich in fiber, which helps to stimulate and cleanse the digestive tract.
Cultivation
Ugly trees are not sturdy and cannot endure cold climates. They can withstand zone 10 of the United States Department of Agriculture. Plants require lots of water, especially when plants start to produce fruit, full sun, well-draining soil, average fertility, and these conditions.
