Temperament
The general temperament of an English Bulldog is unaffected by having a tri-colored coat; they continue to make wonderful family companions because of their kind and gentle nature and their propensity to get along well with children. They typically crave human companionship and are brave enough to serve as excellent watchdogs.
It is advisable to introduce them when they are still puppies because they can be hostile towards other dogs, and they would do better living with a dog of the opposite sex. Be aware that the English Bulldog can be a challenge to teach due to their characteristic stubbornness and ordinary to below average intelligence, but they make wonderful pets for families because they love to lounge around the house and are patient with kids.
Gene for Coat Color
According to the Veteran Centres of America (VCA), eumelanin and phaeomelanin are the only two pigments that matter when it comes to the numerous coat colours that dogs may eventually acquire.
Both are types of melanin, but the former is what gives colours like black and crimson their hues.
However, these pigments are not entirely self-sufficient and are greatly influenced by the dog’s DNA. For instance, the black pigment eumelanin can have its genetic makeup changed to produce blue or lilac colour variations.
Given that the colour of the pup depends on the alleles of its parent’s genes, Agouti Signalling Protein (ASIP) genes are one of the main determinants of a dog’s coat colour and pattern.
Consider the recessive Agouti allele at, which in Bulldogs can result in tan points.
Breeders can boost the probability of getting the desired tri-color coat by selectively breeding several lines of English Bulldogs with the appropriate Agouti genes.
- Black tri color
tri black On their face, chest, and legs, English Bulldogs have some tan spots and white streaks in addition to their rich black coat. They are one of the more prevalent varieties of tri-colored English Bulldogs, and their eyes are often brown.
- Blue Tri Color
They have mostly blue, almost silvery coats with minor tan spots on their faces, chests, and legs. Typically, their eyes are either green or blue.
- Chocolate Tri Color
One of the more well-known varieties of tri-colored English Bulldogs is the chocolate tri Bulldog, which has a dark brown coat with some white patches mixed in.
Along with the brown patches, you’ll see some tan areas on the face, chest, and legs. Their noses are often brown, and their eyes are frequently hazel or green.
- Lilac Tri-Color English Bulldog
The hardest to breed and most sought-after of the tri-colored English Bulldogs is the lilac tri. Their base coat is a chocolate colour with a small amount of blue added to give it a more champagne hue.
Points of tan can be seen on the face, chest, or legs, much like with the other tri-color patterns. Eyes on Lilac tri Bulldogs often range from azure blue to light green in hue.
