Originally from North America, the toy fox terrier is a tiny dog breed distinguished by an athletic build, a glossy coat that is primarily white, and wide, upright ears with a V shape. There’s a lot of personality in this cute, playful packaging. Small smooth fox terriers were mixed with various toy dogs by breeders to create the breed.
Care as a Pet/ In Captivity
The toy fox terrier is extremely intelligent, self-assured, loving, and energetic. Despite their diminutive size, they always make their presence known, and because of their enthusiasm, they can occasionally be difficult to deal with. They are fun, cunning, and full of beans, therefore it will be crucial to provide them with a wide variety of enrichment activities and interactive toys. Otherwise, these dogs will probably find their own, much less acceptable methods to amuse themselves.
Exercise
A casual stroll around the block won’t be enough exercise for these vivacious and adaptive individuals, so make sure your dog gets enough of it. The breed requires just simple grooming and requires little upkeep. The dog’s smooth, short coat only minimally sheds, thus brushing is required once a week to remove dead hairs and maintain the coat looking healthy and lustrous. Brushing your terrier’s teeth regularly is essential to preventing dental problems, as it is with all dogs.
Nutrition and Diet
Like any dog, your toy fox terrier needs high-quality food and a diet with the right quantity sizes. Although it may be tempting to indulge your dog with yummy snacks and leftovers from meals, obesity is a severe issue for dogs and can result in a number of more serious health issues, including diabetes.
