Titanopsis schwantesii

titanopsis-schwantesii

Titanopsis schwantesii is a tiny succulent that grows as a mat of opposing, gray-green rosettes with rounded ends that resemble little rocks and are heavily coated with white warty tubercles. The diameter of the rosettes can reach 2.8 inches (7 cm). The fleshy, spatulate leaves can reach 1.2 inches (3 cm) in length and 0.3 inches (0.7 cm) in width. Early in the spring, daisy-like flowers with a pale yellow center and a diameter of up to 0.8 inches (2 cm) develop on a short stem and open in the late afternoon.

Care

Titanopsis are simple to grow and rapidly develop clumps to create a lovely succulent mat. For the plant’s future propagation, the clumps can be separated. When growing in the late autumn and early spring, these plants need a moderate amount of water. The rest of the day, keep the soil just barely moist.

These lovely succulents require little upkeep. They require a sandy soil that has minimal organic matter. Titanopsis grow best in the winter and need to be kept quite dry in the summer. When temperatures rise above 45 °F (7 °C), these plants should also be kept dry.

The optimal location to grow Titanopsis is in a sunny area with strong summer sun and winter sun exposure.
