Tangerine Leopard Morph

Tangerine Leopard Gecko

Appearance:

Any Leopard Gecko with orange color can be categorized as having a Tangerine morph. They can have black stripes or spots on their tail in addition to darker orange to red markings or blotches on their body. Some tangerine geckos are referred to as “Super Hyo Tangerines” because of their exceptionally brilliant orange hue. Compared to geckos with less vibrant colors, these can sell for significantly more money. Adult size is 7-10 inches.

Linebred traits include tangerine.

How are the Tangerine geckos determined?

Described as a gecko with orange pigment in front of the base of the tail. The several variants known as “tangerine,” “baldy,” or hypomelanistic (= “hypo”) are determined by the hue and intensity of orange. Some geckos resemble what might be described as red/orange or red when the orange pigment is concentrated. Such beauties produced from the hypo tangerines as the Tangerine Tornadoes, Torrid Tangerines, and Electric Tangerines have practically perfected a real red hue that stays vivid in adult geckos. Before 1996, only a few breeders had experimented with and developed their own strain of line-bred morphs.
