Description
Size: 18 lbs.
According to Lyons, a tabby cat is a haphazardly bred cat with a pattern of stripes, swirls, spots, or blotches of colour in its fur coat. Grey, brown, and orange jackets are the most typical colours on which the pattern can be seen.
Origin and History
The term “tabby” is thought to have originated from a sort of striped silk known as “Atabi,” which was produced in the Middle Eastern city of Attabiah. The so-called “tiger cat”‘s coat’s pattern was similar to that of the silk as soon as it arrived in Britain, and this particular cat immediately began to be dubbed “tabi cat,” which finally became “tabby cat.”
Behavior
Activity Level: moderate
Social Needs: They enjoy taking part in family activities and thriving in your home’s cat or dog population as well as around their human families.
These extraordinary creatures are incredibly kind and wise. They enjoy being held and receiving lots of attention. Tabbies are often quite intelligent, thus they typically succeed in getting what they want, but they can become quite irritable if they don’t get their way.
As Pet
Diet and Nutrition
Any breed of tabby may typically be fed a healthful cat diet, either canned or dried. To learn if your cat’s breed has any particular dietary needs, do some study on it.
Grooming
More so than its coat pattern, a tabby’s care will mostly rely on its breed. Compared to a Manx tabby, a Maine coon tabby will need more brushing, coat maintenance, and possibly hairball medication. An Ocicat will require a lot more space to play during exercise than a Persian tabby.
