Standard Schnauzer

standard-schnauzer

The brazen, bewhiskered Standard Schnauzer is a lively German farm dog. They are the medium-sized, somewhat stubborn but always dependable members of the Schnauzer breed family. The athletic appearance of the Standard is a canine classic. The Standard Schnauzer is a medium-sized dog that weighs between 35 and 45 pounds. They are bigger than Miniatures but smaller than Giants. All three schnauzer sizes share key breed characteristics, including an elongated head with arched eyebrows and bristly whiskers that frame eyes that sparkle with intense intelligence. Schnauzers also have a sturdy, square-built frame. As gregarious companions, vigilant watch dogs, eager backyard squirrel hunters, and loving family protectors, standards fit the bill.

Care as a Pet/ In Captivity

The common schnauzer was not bred to be a couch potato. He requires regular outlets for mental and physical stimulation, so hobbies like agility, tracking, or herding are perfect for him. The normal schnauzer will like spending time with other dogs who want to play because of his boundless energy.

Owners should plan on brushing their dogs once each week in order to maintain that characteristic, wiry coat. Although the typical schnauzer breed sheds little, its hair can get rather long. His coat will look its finest with regular brushing with a slicker brush and a natural bristle brush, as well as the occasional trim.

Exercise

According to Moller, “This breed thrives on being able to run and get lots of exercise.” “So, unless I knew someone was training for marathons and ran five or 10 miles a day, I’m not sure whether I would place Bracco Italiano puppies with someone in an apartment or limited living area. The breed requires a lot of physical activity and mental challenge.”

The Bracco Italiano thrives in a home with a sizable backyard where she can display her distinctive gait, which Moller refers to as “the Bracco trot,” and with a committed pet parent who will take her on walks, treks, and heart-pounding runs numerous times each day.
