Behavior
Activity Level: High
Social needs: Always need attention and company
They are opinionated and outspoken. In a loud, scratchy voice, they will express their opinions to you, and they want you to listen to them and take their recommendations. Siamese cats adore their owners dearly. They like being “helping,” so they will accompany you around and keep an eye on everything you do. A Siamese loves to sit on your lap when you are seated, and at night it will sleep next to you in bed.
Siamese don’t fare well when left alone and might act destructively. Responsible owners who plan to go for extended periods of time will get at least one more active cat for companionship and play time.
Care as a Pet
Exercise
Siamese should have access to a cat tree or other climbing device since they enjoy climbing. They enjoy chasing puzzle and teaser toys as well. You don’t want this cat to become bored while you are away as you might come home to discover it has been playing up by climbing curtains or engaging in other mischief.
Siamese cats are relatively trainable since they are curious, active, and intelligent. Using a clicker to train cats is among the simplest methods. Toy fetching and other entertaining activities can be taught to Siamese cats using a clicker.
Shedding
The Siamese cat has a short coat that just requires routine maintenance. Brush your cat thoroughly once a week to get rid of loose hair and lower the chance of hairballs.
Nutrition and Diet
While wet food gives fluids to cats who may not drink enough water, dry cat food can help keep a cat’s teeth and gums healthy. Make sure your cat has easy access to fresh, clean water by providing it.
While many cats naturally control their eating habits, some can become binge eaters if given free access to food. If you notice that your cat is gaining weight, you can want to offer two meals each day and remove any leftovers.
With age, your cat might require a modified diet. Consult your veterinarian about your cat’s dietary requirements. The greatest method to ensure that your cat lives to an elderly age in good health is to prevent obesity.
Grooming needs
These cats don’t require a lot of maintenance due to their short, non shedding coat. The ordinary Siamese cat only needs weekly brushing, routine ear cleaning, and nail clipping.
Origin/History
According to the National Siamese Cat Club, Siamese cats are one of the most ancient Asian cat breeds. They were highly valued by royalty and were originally from Thailand(Siam). These “Royal Cats of Siam” swept the nation in the late 19th century when they were brought to England, where they appeared in catalogs and were prized by the affluent. Since then, the Siamese breed has only grown to gain popularity and is frequently listed as among the most popular cat breeds in the United States.
