Lifespan

Males live 7+ years, whereas females live 22–40 years.

Temperament

Although it is generally considered to be placid, if scared or startled, it may escape or flick irritating hairs. This species’ bites are quite uncommon.

Habitat

Discovered in the state of Texas in the United States.

Bite

With its deadly bite, it preys on any little mammal it can overcome. Although no one has ever died after being bitten by a desert tarantula, the incident is unpleasant for both the victim and the spider.

Feeding

Depending on the size of the spider and the size of its prey, adults will feed every 10 to 18 days. Every 7 to 14 days, spiderlings should eat more often. Adults may be fed roaches, crickets, or mealworms. It may be advisable to use pre-killed four until they are big enough to handle live prey because spiderlings under 1/3″ can only eat food small enough for it to dominate.

Behavior

Despite their gentle reputation, they may scatter hairs or flee when startled. This spider may bite in extremely rare circumstances, albeit the poison is weak. Slings are more likely to burrow, while adults will typically seek cover instead. Adults typically avoid hiding away in open spaces.
