Description:
Scientific name: Anolis bartschi
Life span: Not known
Anolis bartschi is a species of lizard in the family Dactyloidae, popularly known as the Pinar Del Rio cliff anole, western cliff anole, and west Cuban anole.
Adult males of the medium-sized anole A. bartschi typically measure 7.5 cm (3 in) from snout to vent, while females measure 6.4 cm (2.5 in). It and the Cuban stream anole are the only two anoles (both sexes) without a dewlap entirely (A. vermiculatus).
Native Region/Habitat
The species only exists in Cuba. Forests in limestone karst regions are A. bartschi’s preferred natural habitat.
Behavior:
A. bartschi reproduces through oviparous means. It is one of the select few anole species where females can build a communal nest of eggs in crevices in a sheer cliff by laying their eggs at the same time.
