Philodendron Gabby

Philodendron Gabby.

Philodendron Gabby is a one-of-a-kind houseplant with uncommon variegated ‘Cream and white’ leaves that make it a beautiful plant jewel.

Because the plant looks so much like Cream Splash and Philodendron Brazil, several producers promote imitation plants on online websites.

As a result, be wary of producers that promise to sell Philodendron Gabby at a low cost. Instead, look for a few internet sellers, nurseries, and home gardeners that sell established variegated pieces.

Sunlight Precautions

Gabby thrives in mild indirect sunshine for at least 7-10 hours each day, however inadequate lighting may hinder the variegation required for Gabby.

  • Place them in an area with mild indirect sunlight, such as near a window or canopy.
  • Do not expose them to direct sunlight since it will scorch the leaves and damage the variegation.
  • It has to be at least 6 feet away from a south-facing window to get enough indirect light to live.
  • However, don’t keep them in low-lit regions that don’t get much sunshine since low light encourages leggy development.
  • Consider bringing them inside and placing them under an LED grow lamp to create the ideal artificial growth environment in the winter.
  • 7-10 hours every day, expose your plants to grow lights such as a fluorescent or LED bulb.

Temperature Requirements

Philodendron Gabby loves temperatures ranging from 20°C to 27°C (70-80°F) to promote healthy leaf development and abundant variegation.

  • Gabby plants thrive in warm, humid situations, such as near kitchen and bathroom areas with adequate indirect sunshine.
  • Avoid putting them in regions with little or no sunlight.
  • To avoid dry foliage, remove them from areas with a heater or air conditioner.
  • To avoid cold stress, bring them indoors throughout the winter and place them under a grow lamp.
  • You may also use a frost blanket or heating pads to keep the soil warm.
  • Setting up a greenhouse will aid in the growth and care of the plant.

Watering techniques:

A three-inch pot needs 200ml of water every six days, whereas a five-inch pot needs 900 ml of water every seven days.

  • Allow a few inches of soil to dry between waterings.
  • Water once a week during the active growth season, but once every two weeks or more during the winter.
  • Water the plant using rainfall or filtered water that is free of salt.
  • To avoid cold stress, allow the water to remain overnight (at room temperature) before watering.
  • Remove the water collected in the saucer as soon as it is collected.

Fertilizer

You shouldn’t need to use fertilizer as long as you replenish your potting soil annually because it already has all the nutrients your plant needs. Keep in mind that sunlight, not fertilizer, provides plants with their energy.
