Paradise Fish

paradise-fish

Size

The average adult height ranges from 2.5 to 4.0 inches.

Physical Characteristics and Behavior

After goldfish, paradise fish were introduced to Europe. They rank among the hardiest and most colorful aquarium fish. It’s amazing to see blue stripes on a reddish-brown body. Paradise fish can breathe air, much like labyrinth fish. If given the correct care, they might live for ten years. Male paradise fish can reach a length of 10 cm and have huge, pointed dorsal and anal fins. Only 7 cm long are the females. Women are paler.

Habitat

The aquarium needs to be 100 litres. Ideal temperatures range from 18 to 26 °C. This enables the keeping of paradise fish at room temperature. Acidic and alkaline water makes the ideal aquarium medium (pH: 6.0 – 8.5). Additionally, these fish can be kept in water that is softer or harder (GH value: 5–19°dH).

  • Care of Aquariums

Although the labyrinth organ enables the fish to survive in oxygen-depleted water, it is a frequent fallacy that this eliminates the need for water changes. These are incredibly robust fish. This is rarely true because the tissue damage brought on by accumulated toxins in these fish will be the same as in any other fish. Water must be changed frequently, with 25% weekly being advised.

Weekly Water Changes: It is advised to perform 25% weekly water changes.

  • Setup of an aquarium

The Heaven Fish will swim throughout the entire tank. They are adaptable to most aquarium conditions and are relatively resilient. They can even be kept in an aquarium that isn’t heated because they can survive a broad range of temperatures. A 20 gallon tank can accommodate one fish, but a couple or community of fish will thrive in a tank at least 30″ long. Give the female a 20-gallon or 30-gallon aquarium filled with plants so she has a place to hide. Although the water should move very gently, the tank should have an effective filtering system. They are jumpers, therefore the tank also needs to be covered.

Paradise In the wild, little bodies of water with fish are common. In the aquarium, this ecology is mimicked. Typically, they will stake out a few square feet of territory, which they will defend and dwell. The fish tank should be designed so that both the dominant and quieter personality types can live happily together. A single fish could be kept as low as 5 gallons, but this small size is more challenging to maintain. Minimum Tank Size: 20 gal (76 L). For long-term care, a regular 20-gallon tank is ideal for a single male, while a 30-gallon or 20-gallon aquarium is recommended as the minimum size for a pair or mixed community.

  • Appropriate for Nano Tank: Yes, a single man can live in a 20-gallon Nano tank, but a pair or group should have access to a larger Nano.
  • Any Substrate Type
  • Moderate to moderate illumination is required.
  • Temperature: 61.0 to 79.0° F (16.1 to 26.1° C) – Because of their wide tolerance, they can be kept in outdoor ponds or unheated aquariums at temperatures that are slightly higher than these conventional ranges.
  • Breeding temperature is between 70 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit (21 and 24 degrees Celsius).
  • pH: 5.8 to 8.0
  • Range of hardness: 5 to 30 dGH
  • Feeding and Food

The Paradise Fish prefer rich, meaty diets despite being omnivores. They prey on small fish, planktonic invertebrates, and other zoobenthos in the wild where they are predators. An intriguing trait of these fish is that they occasionally attempt to catch possible prey by jumping out of the water if they spot it above the water surface, such as insects.

Give them high-quality flake or pellet food as the foundation of their diet to maintain a healthy balance in the aquarium. They are happy to eat meals made for Bettas, but they shouldn’t be given only that kind of diet. They prefer using live items to practice their predatory instincts, but they should also be given some vegetable stuff. White worms, blood worms, brine shrimp, or any other suitable replacements should be supplemented. Feed typically once or twice per day.
