Description:

A medium-sized goat breed is the Murcia Granada goat. Their bodies are svelte and well-proportioned. They have a single hue, either mahogany or black. The does have short, thin hair, whilst the bucks have longer, stronger hair.

Bucks typically have horns and a noticeable beard. The goat from Murcia-Granada has medium-sized, upright ears. They have strong feet and a short, upright tail. The does have huge, well shaped udders and teats that are in the right places.

These goats come in two different varieties: Veguesi and Montana. The Veguesi type comes from irrigated, flat land areas, whereas the Montana variety comes from mountainous regions.

These goats make excellent pets because of their placid nature. Goats from Murcia and Granada are a sturdy breed. The semi-arid regions of south-eastern Spain’s hot and dry climate suit them well.

Benefits/Uses: 

The Murcia Granada goat is bred primarily for its exceptional milk output. Yet it also has a reputation for producing meat. Due to its peaceful disposition, the breed can also be maintained as pets.

Origin/History:

The Murcia Granada goat is a breed of domestic goat originated in the semi-arid plains in south eastern Spain. It is a native breed of Granada, Murcia, Almeria, and Alicante. A few years ago, the breed was brought to Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, and Brazil. Moreover, these goats were sent to North Africa. The breed is currently maintained primarily for its exceptional milk producing capacity.
