Behavior:

The Macklot’s python lives by itself. Although they like to stay in one place, these snakes are not territorial, and multiple individuals have been seen together. Despite their unfavorable reputation for aggression, these snakes can be tamed with consistent handling.

Care As a pet/In captivity:

  • The live exotic animal trade has made the snake Liasis mackloti well-known and profitable, allowing it to be transported far from its natural habitat to places like the United Kingdom and North America, where it is bought and held in captivity at pet shops, specialty stores, and conventions.
  • They will consume lizards, frogs, fish, small animals, water birds (and their eggs), and rats.
