Description
More uncommon than any other colour variant are silver dalmatian or lavender axolotls. The variation is known as silver because of its distinctive shade of lavender and purple. In addition, they have specks all over their body that resemble those of a dalmatian dog. They are hence known as silver Dalmatians.
Due to its rarity and limited distribution in the USA, there is little known about this morph. What is known about this colour morph is that their entire body has a pale, almost silvery tone. Black eyes and greyish-red gills to create an alluring appearance complement their distinctive body colour.
As plants mature, some lavender varieties have a tendency to turn grey or green. But most of them continue to be purple. The lavender varieties can sometimes come in a deeper, spotless purple colour. This colour combination is really unique, though.
Temperament
Dalmatian axolotls in the lavender or silver colour varieties get along well with their owners. Additionally, they are nocturnal animals. Because of this, whenever they are exposed to intense lights, you can find them scurrying for cover.
When they are young, this axolotl species may exhibit some cannibalism towards their kind. They consume any species that fits their mouth, which is one of their most infamous characteristics. Therefore, keeping them in a species-only tank where they can live happily as they like is strongly advised.

Tank Setup
If you’re resolved to have a lavender axolotl in your tank and take responsibility for its care, you must be extremely clear on what their aquarium needs are.
Tank Size
To keep your axolotl secure and content, a tank with all the required characteristics built in is a need. For some extra space, it is preferable to keep silver dalmatian axolotls in a tank that has a minimum 20-gallon capacity.
Additionally, the tank needs to have a lid to stop your pet from jumping out. For adequate space, it would be best to take into account both the tank’s depth and length.
Water Parameters
To maintain the health of your silver dalmatian axolotl, tank water parameters must be properly maintained. Your tank’s water supply must be devoid of any bio-waste, ammonia, nitrite, or excessive nitrate concentrations. Therefore, a 20% water change is required on a regular basis to prevent the buildup of these hazardous compounds.
These axolotls typically withstand a pH range of 6.5-8. The ideal pH range, though, is thought to be between 7.4 and 7.8. Additionally, you must keep the water at a consistent 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Higher temperatures are not suitable for lavender species. As a result, the tank does not need to be heated.
Food & Diet
The kind of food you feed your silver dalmatian axolotls has a significant impact on their health. They readily consume a wide variety of animal feeds because they are carnivores.
A decent staple food for your silver dalmatian axolotl must include things like frozen bloodworm cubes, pinkie mice, small fish, huge earthworms, daphnia and brine shrimp.
