Description:

A medium-sized dairy goat breed with compact and sturdy conformation is the Laoshan goat. They are closely linked to Saanen goats, another well-liked breed of dairy goat. Goats from Laoshan are typically white in color, with silky, short hair. A significant portion of the breed lacks horns. The does’ udders are fully grown.

They are widely dispersed in Shandong province’s Laoshan districts, where the plentiful native pasture and feed resources offer the best circumstances for dairy goats. Moreover, they exhibit good resistance to the humid climate.

The Laoshan goat is primarily kept as a breed of dairy goat. It is suitable for producing milk and makes decent meat goats.

Origin/History:

China’s Shandong Province is home to the Laoshan goat breed, which is used to make milk. It is a product of selective breeding between native goats and Saanen goats, which were first brought to the region in 1904.
