Physical Characteristics
A fish with slightly flattened sides, four pairs of barbels surrounding the mouth, and tiny fins, the kuhli loach resembles an eel. The anal fin begins considerably behind the body’s midsection, where the dorsal fin begins. The skin around the eyes is translucent.
Temperament
Fish called Kuhli Loaches are timid and non-aggressive. You won’t observe much movement from them throughout the day but find them fairly active the whole night. They can be spotted sleeping at the aquarium’s bottom at night and rummaging around the substrate for food.
Habitat
Most frequently discovered in marshes, oxbows, and backwaters, as well as in shallow, slowly moving areas of forest streams.
Keeping as Pet

- Feeding
Insect larvae, small crustaceans, and other prey are mostly retrieved from mouthfuls of substrate by a micropredator, with a percentage of the natural diet also likely including organic detritus and plant matter from the prey’s gastrointestinal contents.
It will eat sinking dried foods in the aquarium, but live and frozen Daphnia, Artemia, bloodworms, microworms, grindal worms, etc. should also be provided on a regular basis.
