Jenday Conure

Jenday Conure

Description

Life span:  20+ years

The head of the Jenday conure is golden-yellow with different sizes of orange dots surrounding its eyes. It has an orange-gold body, green tail that turns blue at the base, and emerald green wings with blue flights.

They are also known as Yellow-headed Conures, Flaming Parakeets, and Jandaya Parakeets. The size and look of sun conures and jenday conures are pretty similar. The sun has yellow wings, while the jenday has green wings, making it the simplest to tell them apart.

Habitat/Native Region

The forests, palm groves, and dense vegetation of northeastern Brazil are home to the jenday conure. They prefer to nest high in tree hollows and frequently travel in tiny flocks of 30 or fewer birds.

Behavior

Jenday conures are faithful friends since they are affectionate and highly animated birds. Most jendays should get along well with families and be accepting of everyone, while some may grow close to a specific person.

The affectionate Jenday conures frequently like to ride on their handler’s shoulder or inside their shirt. They frequently like being touched, and when a person wishes to pay them attention, they will droop their heads. The majority of people adore this bird’s beauty and charming personality. The gregarious Jenday conures enjoy mingling with people. Jenday conures are as intelligent as the other parrots in their family and are capable of mimicking noises and picking up simple tricks.

Care

If a person wants to keep birds calm and content, make a point of spending a lot of time with them. The bird needs to be kept company because boredom and loneliness can lead to inappropriate behavior, including destructive chewing. Jendays won’t be fussy eaters if they are taught to eat a variety of foods while they are weaning. Every day, a wide range of fruits, vegetables, seeds, and pellets should be offered.

This little bird needs a lot more room even though it looks like it may fit in a cockatiel cage. It should be big enough for the bird to fly around and flap its wings without restriction. If it could fly inside its cage, that would be wonderful. These birds are highly energetic and have a tendency to get restless in confined spaces.
