Description
A species of sea slug belonging to the Chromodorididae family of marine gastropod mollusks, is called Hypselodoris variobranchia. The body of Hypselodoris variobranchia is a rich purple colour, and the mantle has a wide solid white border around it. The rhinophore’s orange bulb has purple sheaths. The gills could be vivid purple or orange. A lofty gill pocket with deep purple coloration is present. The name Hypselodoris bullocki has been used extensively to refer to this species.
Geographical Distribution
Aphol’s Rock, Maricaban Island, Tingloy, Batangas Province, Luzon Island, Philippines, 13°39′31′′N 120°54′05′′E / 13.6586°N 120.9013°E / 13.6586; 120.9013 is where the holotype of this nudibranch was discovered. It is a widespread and ubiquitous species that has been documented from Okinawa, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Queensland, and Indonesia. However, it is frequently confused with Hypselodoris bullocki or Hypselodoris apolegma.
