Hugh’s hedgehog, commonly known as the central Chinese hedgehog (Mesechinus hughi). Hugh’s Hedgehog has a deep colour. Spines in the dorsal pelage are smooth and feature a little, pale subterminal band right before black tips. No longer than nearby spines are the ears.
Habitat
This species is indigenous to Manchuria and central China. Although it is more common in open, dry steppe, it can also be found in shrubland and woodlands.
As Pet
Semiarid and dry steppes are necessary in habitat. Their major food sources are tiny vertebrae and insects.
