The Hereford, a rare breed of pig with American roots, is a cross between Duroc, Poland China, and possibly some Chester White or Hampshire. Between 1920 and 1925 saw its initial development, while 1934 saw the opening of the official Hereford register.
The sturdy Hereford hogs are ideal for both intensive and extensive production. It is appropriate for use in 4-H and other comparable programs because of its placid demeanor.
