Green Spot Puffer

Green Spot Puffer

Size

They might develop to be about 17 cm long (about 6.8 inches).

Physical characteristics and behavior

The spotted green puffer has a few little spines adorning its large, spherical body. Smallish lips, little eyes, and a broad forehead characterise this endearing face. The spotted green pufferfish comes in a variety of colours, just as many other pufferfish. The adult has a gorgeous white underside and a dark green back. Younger people have a duller shade of green.

Temperature Range

74.0–82.0° F (23.3–27.8° C)

Requirements to Keep as Pet

  • Tank parameters

The Green Puffer cannot just be thrown into a fishbowl and left to sit there with periodic cleaning, unlike other common fish. Such a careless approach, which is typically displayed by new puffer pet owners, frequently results in death.

  • Size of the green spotted puffer tank

The tank must have a minimum water capacity of 30 gallons. A 55-gallon tank is the ideal choice. However, a baby fish can survive in a smaller tank for a while.

Filtration and water changing:

They need weekly water changes, and the general characteristics of the water don’t alter much. Additionally, a filter that can produce an average of 5 to 10 litres per hour is absolutely necessary. The alternative is worse than over-filtration.

  • Water needs

They must be provided consistently and strictly. Even though this couldn’t be further from the truth, many stores will attempt to pass them off as freshwater fish. Pufferfish require slightly brackish to mildly salty water with an alkaline pH range of 7.8 to 8.2 (specific gravity: 1.005 to 1.20).

  • Adding Salts

Don’t just pour any container of salt into the aquarium when adding salt. That might be harmful to the fish. Instead, combine the salt with water in a bucket before adding it to the aquarium. Even though you could believe that’s the end of it, keep in mind that you cannot use local salt. For these high-minded, nose-pinchers, you must use marine salt.

  • Ammonia and Nitrates

Green Pufferfish need an environment with low levels of ammonia and nitrates. Get a water testing kit to accomplish that. Ammonia and nitrate concentrations in the water that are too high can be harmful to your fish’s health.

  • Factor of age

In the natural, young fish begin their lives in freshwater before transitioning to brackish and saltier waters. That model should be used, and the salinity should be raised gradually over time. The Green Spotted Puffer may suffer from any abrupt change in the salinity of the water.

  • Diet

Green Spotted Diet Carnivores who consume meat include puffers. For all intents and purposes, these monstrous beings are eating machines. They have the capacity to starve to death. Because of this, it is preferable to feed them in tiny amounts. They consume flakes, frozen, and fresh foods, but they much prefer the latter.

Their main source of food is crustaceans. Among other things, you can give them clams, crayfish, lobsters, and squid. Snails are the main component of their food (that are the size of their eyes).
