Description

The fruit has a diameter that varies from 100 to 150 mm, depending on the variety and the growing environment. Its pulp often has a distinctively gently acidic flavor and is light yellowish, delicate, and packed with juice. Several types feature pulp that is pink or crimson.

Varieties

The most well-known grapefruit cultivar available is unquestionably Citrus x paradise ‘Ruby Red’. It is a patented variety that first debuted as a pink variety that had mutated. 

Citrus x paradise ‘Rio Red’: Irradiation was used to create this variety, which results in very dark fruit and fruit that is more juicier.

‘Thompson’ citrus x paradise a pink grapefruit cultivar that is sold to the general population. The original plant from which ‘Ruby Red’ was bred is this one.

‘Duncan’ citrus x paradise: This white grapefruit cultivar dates back to 1830 and was developed from a seedling. Though somewhat seedy, it is renowned for being extremely tasty and juicy.

Uses

In Atenas, particularly in Costa Rica, grapefruit are frequently cooked to remove their sourness and turn them into sweets. They are also stuffed, creating a dish known as stuffed grapefruit. Grapefruits are mostly utilized in Haiti for their juice, though they are also used to produce jam.

Cultivation

Grapefruit trees should be planted in a location that receives full sun for at least 6-8 hours per day and in well-draining soil. In order to accommodate the mature height and width of your tree, pick a location that is at least 12 feet away from any structures or other obstacles.
