Goniobranchus splendidus

Description

A species of vibrant sea slug belonging to the Chromodorididae family of marine gastropod mollusks is called Goniobranchus splendidus. A chromodorid nudibranch with an opaque white mantle covered in sizable, dispersed red dots is called Goniobranchus splendidus. These spots may combine to form a single, sizable red patch in the centre of the back in the northern portion of the animal’s range. The mantle’s edge is yellow. The lamellae of the rhinophore clubs are white with red borders. The gills feature white leaflets and two tiny red stripes on the outside rachis.

Geographical Distribution

From Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia, this species was described. It is a member of a mimicry ring of closely related red-spotted chromodorids from south-eastern Australia.
