Description
Goniobranchus geminus, sometimes referred to as the gem sea slug, is a species of brightly colored sea slug that belongs to the Chromodorididae family of marine gastropod mollusks. The edge of the mantle is surrounded by four recognizable colored lines. A narrow outer line of white, followed by a line of light greyish colour, a second line of white, and ultimately a line of vivid golden yellow. From the back, the background is a light brown to yellowish colour with mauve ocelli that are surrounded in white. Ocelli can be seen on the foot, which is clearer and has a white edge. The rhinophores’ gills are white with a beige border, and they are laminated and either yellow or purple.
Geographical Distribution
This sea slug live in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, extending from Kenya to Sri Lanka, and it prefers the coral reefs’ external slopes.
