Evelyn’s Cory

Evelyn's cory

Size

Gains a length of around 5 cm.

Physical Characteristics and Behavior

Worms, benthic crustaceans, insects, and plant matter are all consumed by it. The adults don’t bother to guard the eggs because they are deposited among the dense vegetation. The male swims around the eggs as the mother incubates them for around 30 seconds. She swims to a suitable location first, after which she adheres the adhesive eggs to the surface. The couple will carry on in this manner until roughly 100 eggs have been fertilized and connected.

Keeping as Pet

  • Tank Requirements

All of the species we have kept, however, have benefited significantly from a fine sand substrate that they constantly sift through in search of food, frequently burying their faces up to their eyeballs as they push into the sand. They can survive just fine on a variety of substrates, including the glass tank bottom, so fine sand is not necessarily necessary. However, if you can offer sand, you will observe a lot of highly entertaining activity as they rummage about for food.

Min. tank length. 50 cm / 20 in.

  • Diet

Omnivorous. They require some plant material in their diet, however they are not good algae eaters. In fact, it is advised that they be target fed a variety of sinking pellets and wafers, as well as the sporadic delivery of frozen and live foods, for their best health. They are rather slow feeders yet have a large appetite.

  • Water Conditions

To thrive, it needs a tropical climate with water that is between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius, 72 to 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and a pH of between 6.0 and 8.0. It also needs water that is between 2 and 25 dGH hard.
