Size
Males of this specie are 4.7 inches (11 cm) and females are 4 inches (10 cm) in length.
Physical Appearance
P. socolofi is shaped like a “typical” mbuna. The fish are either golden yellow or light to dark blue in colour. Sometimes faint bands might be observed on the blue morph. The black band on the initial rays of the anal fin and a black ridge along the upper half of the dorsal fin typically distinguish the blue variation. Typically, the yellow variants are unmarked.
Habitat
Eastern Africa; found in the Likoma Islands and on Lake Malawi’s eastern shore.
