The term “eclipse” describes an ocular characteristic in which the eye is entirely hidden.

Geckos with eclipse-eyed eyes provide yet another peculiar nomenclature issue. It is a straightforward recessive trait, and individuals heterozygous for Eclipse have perfectly normal eyes. Not all homozygous examples, nevertheless, will truly have the distinctive solid eye appearance. Others may have eyes that look perfectly normal, while others may only have half-colored eyes (known as snake-eyed). To further complicate matters, they might initially hatch solid before turning “snake-eyed” or even normal later on!
Appearance:
