Their velvety, curly coats can be thick or sparse; light coated Devons may require more care owing to potential skin problems or excessive coat oil.

Many Devons take pleasure in riding on the shoulders of their loved ones, relishing the attention and proximity to their favorites. Origin/History
In England, when the Cornish Rex cat first began competing in cat exhibitions, they were a novelty, and newspapers frequently ran images of them. Beryl Cox witnessed one of the images in Devon. She was intrigued because a colony of cats resided close by in an old tin mine where she lived. These cats had curly coats as well. A kitten with a curly coat belonged to Cox. Although the mother was a straight-haired barn cat, Cox believed that the dad was one of the stray cats from the tin mine since the kitten had curly hair. The Devon Rex breed, which was started by a cat by the name of Kirlee, rose to fame.
Care as a Pet

Devon’s curly coat is simple to care for. Gently groom to prevent breaking the fine hairs. Sometimes, all it requires is for you to brush your palm over the coat.
