Description

Nembrotha cristata is a kind of vivid sea slug that belongs to the Polyceridae family of marine gastropod mollusks. A giant black nembrothine called Nembrotha cristata (referred to as a “nembrothid” in much of the literature) can reach lengths of at least 50 mm. Raised green nodules cover its entire body. The gills and rhinophores are both black with green edges. This species resembles Nembrotha yonowae in appearance, with the exception of coloration.

Geographical Distribution

This species of nudibranch was discovered in the Philippines. The tropical Indo-West Pacific Ocean is where it occurs. It exists between three and twenty metres under the surface. These sea slugs can survive for up to a year and are found on coral or rock reefs.

Behavior

This species of nudibranch exhibits brilliant hues as an aposematic warning to potential predators. Consuming complex tunicates, these sea slugs. They are hermaphrodites, as are all opisthobranchs.
