The Cramer’s eighty-eight, also known as Diaethria clymena, is a species of butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. From Mexico to Peru and Brazil, it can be found. Pieter Cramer reported his scientific discovery in a fascicle of De uitlandsche Kapellen in 1775.

Appearance
Its wingspan is between 30 and 40 millimetres (1.2–1.6 in). Adults have a blue stripe on each wing and are mostly black. The underside is red, white, and has black stripes that resemble the numbers “89” or “98” in outline.

Habitat
The butterfly Diaethria clymena can only be found in parts of central and southern America, including Mexico, the Amazon, and the Andes. Butterflies frequently visit habitations and are seen as a symbol of luck in various cultures.
Its natural habitat is a rainforest where the larval feeding plants for the Ulmaceae family, the Trema, grow at elevations between sea level and around 2000 m above sea level.
