Colobometra perspinosa

colobometra-perspinosa.

Black feather star is the popular name for the echinoderm species Colobometra perspinosa.

Description

The central Indo-Pacific region’s tropical waters are home to many black feather stars. In order to maximize nutrient absorption, this feather star is frequently clinched to gorgonians with its open arms towards the marine flow.

It has a maximum of ten arms and a maximum diameter of 30 cm (12 in). Its colouring is often black, but it can also be black and white, and in rare cases, brown-gold.
