Feeding

Collies thrive on high-quality dog chow that is mostly composed of meat and contains fewer grains than the competition. Collies shouldn’t be fed meals that contain maize or soy, according to many breed specialists. Carrots, broccoli, green beans, and yams are some vegetables that your Border Collie will benefit from.

Make sure your collie has access to fresh water at all times. Feed your dog a high-quality, nutritionally-balanced meal. Two measured meals per day are typical. Collies are prone to bloat, which can be brought on by eating too quickly, as well as possibly fatal stomach twisting. So, to assist prevent this, think about giving smaller, more often meals. To ensure you are addressing your dog’s specific nutritional needs, always discuss the type of food and the amount with a vet.

Exercise

Collies need at least one to two hours of exercise every day, which can be provided by walking, jogging, hiking, playing hard, and more. The best place for them to run around in is in a yard that is fenced in. Additionally, they frequently enjoy canine sports like agility and herding, which will help them expend some mental and physical energy. Collies appreciate active interactions with their owners. When left alone, they could exhibit problematic habits like excessive barking. However, after a good workout, they are often quiet indoors.
