Description

Cluster beans, usually referred to as guar beans, are a kind of legume that is widely cultivated in Asia, particularly in India. Small, oval-shaped seeds are produced in slender, green pods that are around 10-15 cm long by this plant.

Uses

Due to their versatility, we can eat them as lentils, dried and fried appetizers, and stir-fried veggies.

Nutrition

Cluster beans offer fewer calories and are rich in fibers, vitamins, minerals, and plant-based proteins, all of which have various health advantages.

Cultivation

Although guar enjoys the sun and is resistant of dryness, it is vulnerable to frost. Periods of prolonged drought might delay maturation. On the other hand, too much moisture during the early growth stage and after maturation reduces the quality of the seed.

A variety of soil types can support the growth of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.). Ideally on fertile, medium-textured, well-drained sandy loam soils, as waterlogging reduces plant performance. Guar is resistant of salinity and thrives best in environments that are somewhat alkaline (pH 7-8).
