Clown Triggerfish

Size

19.7 inches maximum length

Physical characteristics and behavior

A demersal marine fish belonging to the genus Balistoides and family Balistidae, also known as the triggerfish, is the clown triggerfish. Its body is compressed laterally and has an oval cross-section, giving it a stocky appearance. Nearly a third of the body’s length is made up by the head. a terminal mouth that is little but powerful. This triggerfish is solitary, active all day long, and territorial. It is typical for fish to act aggressively toward their genetic relations and other species. The animal strives to make a statement, ward off a potential predator, or both when it raises its first long dorsal spine.

Habitat

72-81 degrees Fahrenheit (22-29 degrees Celsius) is the optimal range for water temperature, along with dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, and sg 1.020-1.25. These fish are tough enough to deal with some variance in these circumstances, though.

  • Tank Size

Having a larger tank is a must because triggerfish require a lot of swimming space. This needs to have a lot of rock work with tiny crevasses and caves that the fish may hide in when they’re stressed or sleeping.

  • Tank Mates

The Clown Trigger is amiable when they are young and makes a good tank companion. You should be aware that this rarely persists till adulthood and that the fish may eventually exhibit aggressive and even belligerent behavior. At this stage, consider switching out the fish or the tanks. The Clown Trigger will seek after anything larger than it.

  • Feeding

Make sure to shovel out any extra food that could fall to the sand bed. If the fish aren’t eating it entirely, you might be feeding them too frequently or too quickly. The organic accumulation can cause a surge in the amount of nitrate and phosphate in the water, which will be bad for Triggers in particular.

Mysis shrimp, silversides, and other meaty meals like clams or mollusks will be the mainstays of this carnivore’s diet. When feeding, occasionally dip the meal in garlic. Immunity will be strengthened and foreign parasites will be repelled.
