Chocolate Habanero Pepper

chocolate-habanero-pepper

A habanero chili cultivar that has been carefully selected to yield spicier, heavier, and larger fruit that is ultimately more potent than its derivation is the Chocolate Habanero pepper.

The pods of the chocolate habanero are around 2 inches long, slightly longer than those of the common habanero pepper. Initially emerald green, they become a distinctive dark brown colour as they ripen, earning their name.

Temperature and pH

Warm temperatures are ideal for pepper plant growth. Wait until the risk of frost has passed before planting. The ideal range for temperature is 60 to 70 °F at night and 70 to 80 °F during the day. In soil that is warm and well-drained, pepper plants thrive. Although the plants are not very sensitive to the acidity of the soil, the greatest results are obtained in the pH range of 6.0 to 6.8.

Planting

It’s ideal to start peppers inside eight to ten weeks or more before the latest date of frost in your region. Pepper seedlings develop slowly and can be challenging to germinate. Plants should be spaced 18″ apart in rows that are at least 24″ apart. After transplanting, give plants plenty of water.

Watering

Keep the soil equally moist; peppers require approximately an inch of water per week, especially when the fruits are maturing.

Fertilizer

Change to a fertilizers with more phosphorus and potassium as the peppers mature. Gardeners frequently commit the error of adding too much nitrogen. The outcome is a gorgeous bushy, green plant with few fruits.
