Chantilly-Tiffany Cat

chantilly-tiffany-cat.

Description

Size: 6-12 pounds

The Chantilly-Tiffany has a full, semi-long coat and a semi-foreign body style. The coat is silky, soft, and smooth; because there is typically no undercoat, grooming is usually easier than it is for cats who do. It should have a robust, broad, short, softly squared muzzle, pronounced but not overt whisker pads, and a medium-length nose.

Origin and History

In 1969, a New York breeder by the name of Jennie Robinson combined two unrelated chocolate-colored cats to create the first Chantilly Tiffany cat. At first, semi-longhair Burmese cats were thought to be these ones. In order to produce Chantilly Tiffany cats, modern breeders may outcross to a number of various breeds, such as European Angoras, Abyssinians, and Havana Browns, but they are not allowed to outcross to Burmese.

Foreign longhair was the original designation given to the Chantilly cat breed when it was first registered. The breed was given the name Tiffany because the breeders decided they’d like something different. This caused some confusion because Tiffany, a breed that was created by crossing a Burmese with a Chinchilla Persian, was already listed in the British cat registry GCCF. Chantilly was given to the new breed. Typically, it is referred to as Chantilly or Tiffany or as such.

Behavior

Social Needs: Cats from Chantilly love to be with their owners. They will respond to you by chirping as if you are speaking to them.

Being a loyal friend, the Chantilly likes company versus being left alone. The Chantilly doesn’t make demands, but she will “chirp” and “talk” as if she were conversing. This breed has a gentle demeanour and is loving.

Food & Diet Requirements

The nutrition of a Chantilly Tiffany cat is the same as that of any other cat breed. To stay in top health, they require a diet rich in vitamins and minerals and based on animal proteins. All long-haired breeds should keep an eye on their diet because it can be harder to spot their weight gain than it is with short-haired species.

Exercise

The playful and somewhat energetic breed of Chantilly Tiffanys needs regular exercise to stay in good condition. The best approach to keep long-haired cats from gaining weight is to play with them frequently, exercise them, and carefully watch what they eat because, as was already noted, it’s a little less visible when they start to put on a little weight.

Grooming

Long-haired Chantilly Tiffanys only need minimal grooming. This is because they are less likely to coil up because they don’t have an undercoat. Additionally, their fur is fairly silky and soft, which makes brushing easier. They don’t shed a much either. A Chantilly Tiffany should just require a weekly brush.
