Exercise

Despite their calm and relaxed exterior, Bouviers nevertheless need around an hour and a half of daily exercise. The greatest place for your dog to run around is in a fenced-in yard, although playtime and walks are still crucial. Establish a daily schedule that includes a variety of activities to give your Bouvier both mental and physical stimulation. When you walk together, your dog may begin to herd you as a result of its innate impulses. In addition to regular exercise, the Bouvier is exceptional in dog sports like agility training. This is a fantastic way to exercise both your dog’s mind and body at once.

Grooming

The Bouvier’s shaggy coat needs to be groomed extensively and frequently to stay in good condition. In the double coat, loose hairs are trapped and must be combed out. Poor grooming might result in severe matting (which may require trips to a professional groomer). Some dog owners choose to keep the coat short, but to achieve the proper look, you will need a groomer who is skilled in this technique. Despite the Bouvier’s rigorous grooming requirements, one advantage of the coat type is how little it sheds. In order to clean ears, clip nails, check anal glands, and make sure the hair and skin are in good shape, grooming is advised every 4 to 6 weeks.

However, you can give this dog several smaller meals throughout the day or use a slow-feeder bowl to assist prevent Bloat. When they eat too much at once or gulp down their meal too quickly, Bouviers are prone to bloating and stomach torsion. A medical emergency has occurred.

Puppies of the Bouvier des Flandres breed require a low-calorie diet to prevent rapid growth, which can increase their risk of developing bone diseases. Owners should be ready for this before adopting because this breed is also notorious for having smelly flatulence. In dogs, protein aids in the development of muscle. Therefore, for Bouvier des Flandres to become active, a meal must have between 18 and 25 percent protein and between 10 and 15 percent fat.
