Boiga

Boiga-snake

Description:

Scientific name: Boiga

Life span: 12-15 years

Boiga, also known as cat-eyed snakes or just cat snakes, which has rear-fanged, mildly venomous snakes. Long-bodied snakes with huge heads and eyes are known as cat snakes. Their pattern and color variations are enormous. While many species feature bands, some are also speckled or uniform in color.

Native Region/Habitat

Boiga species are native to India, Southeast Asia, and Australia, but they have spread to numerous other appropriate areas all over the world because of their extraordinary hardiness and adaptability.

Boiga

Behavior:

The majority of the snakes in the genus Boiga are arboreal, nocturnal snakes.

Care As a pet/In captivity:

Boiga cyanea and B. nigriceps are also found in captivity, but Boiga dendrophila is by far the most prevalent species. In the present day South-East Asian exotic pet trade, B. cynodon, B. philippina, and a “Katherine morph” of B. irregularis are also in circulation. Others are less frequently accessible. They are resilient and adaptive, and they frequently thrive in captivity once the initial stress of the importation procedure has gone. The majority of specimens are wild-caught since they are not frequently bred in captivity, making them vulnerable to a high internal parasite burden. It can be challenging a novice reptile keeper to transition them to a rodent-only diet.
