An historic breed of sheep herder and guard dog from the Czech Republic is known as the Bohemian Shepherd.

Characteristics

The Bohemian Shepherd is a rectangular-shaped, medium-sized dog that weighs between 15 and 25 kg. Black with tan fur hue is preferred. With high set, petite, pointed, upright ears and a long, exquisite neckline, the body is compact and proportionate. One of the traits of this breed is its fluid, light, and unhurried walk.

Diet

A premium diet designed for the life stage of Bohemian Shepherds is essential for their health (e.g., puppy, adult, senior). It is crucial to monitor your dog’s food intake because obesity in dogs is on the rise. By measuring their meals, you may avoid overfeeding them and maintain a healthy weight for them. A medium-sized breed with great energy needs a diet tailored to them, which is what a Bohemian Shepherd diet should be. Because this breed is prone to bloating, meals should be divided into smaller amounts to be consumed during the day rather than being left out constantly. The

Grooming

Bohemian Shepherd sheds on average, with seasonally heavier periods. They require weekly brushing to keep the hair from matting and weekly cleaning of the ears and are not thought to be allergy-friendly. They can withstand milder temperatures better than intense heat, but if you must be outside, make sure your dog has access to water.

Training

Usually simple to teach, Bohemians are intelligent working dogs. They are quick learners who are eager to satisfy their people and pick up new skills. They may be somewhat sensitive. Therefore, these puppies respond best to moderate, reward-based teaching techniques. Last but not least, early socialization can help your Bohemian Shepherd grow into a well-mannered adult dog.

Exercise

Bohemian Shepherds are active dogs who were bred as working animals. They can stay in shape by going on daily walks, treks, and play dates. They are also excellent in dog sports including agility, dock diving, and competitive obedience because of their athletic disposition. Bohemians are willing sofa mates in the evening after a good workout.
