Blue Beauty Anole

Blue Beauty Anole

Description:

Scientific name: Anolis equestris potior

Life span: 4+ years

While under pressure or experiencing “emotion,” it would turn a stunning shade of blue, just like other anole species do when they go through a dark phase. Long and wedge-shaped, the snout. The upper edge of the tail’s tail is serrated and slightly compressed. The extended form of each toe is an adhesive pad.

Native Region/Habitat

Schwartz and Thomas first reported it in 1975, and it exclusively inhabits Cayo Santa Maria (province Villa Clara)! born in Cuba.

Behavior:

These are nocturnal anoles. When a snake or anything that looks like a snake (a stick, a garden hose), approaches too close, they can become ferociously defensive. Their defense posture consists of a sideways turn, an extended throat fan, a raised rear crest, and a frightening gape. In the course of a fight with other male anoles, a male will repeatedly extend and retract his throat fan. He stands up straight on all four legs, nods stiffly, and turns to face his adversary. The male then turns a vivid green colour. The male who was most captivated by the presentation will frequently lower his crest and slink away when the combat ends with the display.

Care As a pet/In captivity:

Choose a tank that is at least 30 gallons in size so that it can later be equipped to meet their needs. As the anole wants to climb, branches will need to be added, and they will need to use an appropriate substrate at the bottom. The temperature should be maintained between 26°C and 32°C (80°F and 90°F), and this can be lowered slightly at night. Avoid letting the temperature get too low because that will cause the lizard’s metabolism to slow down, which will cause them to stop eating and go into a shut-down state. You should aim for a humidity level of at least 65%; any lower could lead to health issues for the lizards.
