Description
Scientific Name: Paraechinus nudiventris
Lifespan: 5-7 years
The bare-bellied hedgehog weighs 310–435 g, with a head to body ratio of 14–25 cm, and a tail that is just 1-3 cm long. It takes around 10 months to attain sexual maturity and has 4-6 offspring every litter.
Habitat
Southeast India’s dry, arid areas and scrubby forests are home to this type of hedgehog.
As Pet
An organism that consumes invertebrate animals, such as worms, crustaceans, and insects
It is exceedingly challenging to feed them in captivity because they prefer insects over meat and are omnivorous in diet. They were fed fruits, groundnuts, and beef mince during the observation time. The animal didn’t have a preference other than peanuts.
