Physical characteristics and behavior
A relatively small marine fish is the Banggai cardinalfish. Its tasseled first dorsal fin, extended anal and second dorsal fin rays, and deeply forked caudal fin set it apart from all other members of the Apogonidae family. It has a silvery body and brightly coloured, striking black and light bars with whitish dots.
Habitat
They live in an environment where the water is between 78 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. a minimum tank volume of 30+ gallons, a steady pH range of 7.8–8.2, and nitrate concentrations of 10–20 ppm.

Care Guide
- Tank size
A single Banggai Cardinalfish or a pair require a minimum tank capacity of 10 gallons.
- Tank Companions
The reef-safe tropical saltwater fish Pterapogon kauderni, also known as the Banggai Cardinalfish, gets along well with corals, clams, crabs, and shrimp in a mixed reef tank. Apart from fish of their own species, they are also a tranquil aquarium fish that requires little maintenance.
- Diet
Banggai Cardinalfish are primarily carnivorous, favouring meaty meals like blackworms, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. They typically do not tolerate dried prepared foods well, in my experience.
- Perfect water conditions
pH: 8.1–8.4
Temperature: 73–84 degrees F
35 g/L salinity
0 ppm ammonia
0 ppm of nitrites
