Because Asian Box Turtles like to dig, you should line the cage with a great loose substrate mixture consisting of 2 parts Zoo Med eco dirt and 1 part Exo Terra natural sand, at least 4″ to 5″ deep or deeper for adults. Keep the restroom neat by performing little spot cleaning after each usage.

Humidity

For captive Asian Box Turtles, moisture is essential. If their enclosure is too dry, they risk getting sick. They enjoy swimming and soaking as well, so offer a stable water tray that they can easily enter and exit. It’s crucial to replace the water every day because they frequently drink and urinate at the same time. The Zoo Med repti ramp or shallow Exo Terra bowls both function nicely. Additionally, water the substrate of the turtles’ enclosure daily to keep it moist.

They will follow you around once they get to know you and enjoy being close to you, even though they still don’t like being picked up or handled excessively.
