SizeΒ

Kaligono Cichlids can grow up to 12 inches in length.

Physical Characteristics and BehaviorΒ

The elongated, stocky body form of the Nimbochromis polystigma fish is typical of cichlids. It also has a somewhat large jaw. In their large jaws, fish like tetras and danios resemble spaghetti. Additionally, to fend off potential predators, these cichlids use the frightening array of spines on their dorsal, anal, pectoral, and pelvic fins.

  • Aquarium

48 "For immature fish, 55 gallons (209 L) or (122 cm) is adequate. Large, open swimming spaces are necessary for adult fish to thrive. An array of 60 "Typically, (152 cm) or 90-110 gallons (342-378 L) suffice. Utilize sizable, durable rock formations, such as caves, in the tank's back. Vallisneria should be densely planted along the tank's margins and in its back area.

  • Social Behavior

A territorial predator that eats small fish in its diet. Only combine with other strong, huge fish. Additionally hostile to other species, this species. One male should be kept with many females.

  • Tank Mates

Lake Malawi Haplochromines, Synodontis, mbunas, Polypterus, and Afromastacembelus are suggested associates.

  • Diet

Live food includes fish, Tubifex, aquatic insects, insect larvae, earthworms, big flakes, tablets, and chopped meat in the form of pellets.

  • Water Condition

The pH should be around eight and the hardness should range from 10 to 15 dH since the Kaligono cichlid requires alkaline water with significant mineral content. The Kaligono Cichlid, too, thrives at temperatures between 72 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit (22.8 to 27.8 C).
