What makes them different from others?
Leopard geckos with albinism are the outcome of a Genetic Mutation.
Leopard geckos develop albinism as a result of a deficiency in the hormone tyrosinase, which is necessary for the production of melanin. The skin’s natural pigmentation is caused by melanin buildup in the epidermis.
Leopard geckos that are albino have less melanin in their skin, giving them a lighter hue. Selective breeding or haphazard genetic mutations may produce this phenotype.
These animals don’t or make very little melanin. These animals are significantly lighter and brighter than their typical counterparts since melanin contributes to the creation of dark colors. Each of the layers of skin in geckos has color cells.
